This is the Claret School of Quezon City where we recently had another of our YSS Street Smart seminar workshop on road safety. Claret School is a Catholic school run by Claretian missionaries. It was established in 1967 and its patron saint is St. Anthony Mary Claret after whom the school was named. Although it is known as a boys’ school, Claret School accepts girls up to the kindergarten level at its Child Study Center. Unknown to many, a big earthquake in 1990 threatened the school building so that Claret School had to make reinforcements. Today, it stands strong and stable, thanks to the foresight and efforts of the school officials. The Claret Child Study Center is the youngest component of Claret School of Quezon City, Grade School Unit. It caters to both boys and girls with ages three to five years old. The Child Study Center is composed of the Junior Nursery, Senior Nursery and Kindergarten levels. These three levels are recognized as the first three years of a child’s life away from home. The Association for the Rights of Children in Southeast Asia and the Salinlahi Alliance for Children's Concerns conducted a RISING on February 12 at the Quezon City High School in Quezon City. Filipino women and children's situation and the relevance of the International Women's day (March 8) was discussed by Salinlahi.
